Food Items Needed

The Food Bank has requested instant soups, such as Top Ramen or Cup O’Soup, for the months of July and August. If you are able to help out please leave your donations in the baskets located in the vestibule of each church. Toiletries are also appreciated for the Shelters. The Hope Committee will see that all items are delivered. Thank you for your past and future donations which help our less fortunate brothers and sisters. They have also asked that we inform you of their need for fresh vegetables and meat items. While we cannot accept these things at the church as we have no place to store them they can be delivered directly to the Food Bank facility at 12181 Airport Road.

Collecting Aluminum Cans

The Knight’s of Columbus has started an aluminum can drive to benefit the Church’s local youth groups, community and other good works of the Knights. You may support this project by bringing aluminum cans to church before Mass either on Saturday evening or Sunday morning. Wire containers are available for collection. You may wish to save them and bring them when you have a plastic bag full. The Knights will take care of the rest. The project began last weekend at all churches in the county and will continue as long as feasible. Start saving now! If you have any questions you may call Bob Dobbs at 296-7710 or John Bowling at 245-6764. Together we “can”. Thank you for your support.

The Bell Tolls

By the grace of God there are no executions scheduled for this week. We ask for your prayers for those awaiting execution, the families of those who were victims of their violence, and for all of us in whose name the executions are being done. Have the deaths of those executed this year stopped acts of violence? Have the deaths made our communities safer? Have the deaths been consistent with the teaching of Christ? At the same time pray for the nearly 4,000 babies who are killed each week by the abortion process. Please pray that respect for all life will become the standard throughout the world so that abortion, euthanasia and capital punishment will be unthinkable.

New Vatican Website

Pilgrims and tourists can now visit the Vatican virtually, by way of Vatican City State's new Internet site. The new site is available in five languages including English. It includes five sections: "State and Government," "Services," "Other institutions," "Monuments" and "Shop." The site features other elements, including a Web cam, which offers a real-time look at St. Peter's Square, the tomb of Pope John Paul II and other Vatican sites, and photo galleries that include a tour of the Vatican Gardens, Castel Gandolfo and a display of actual and historical papal automobiles. Visit it at www.vaticanstate.va/EN/. A link has been added to our Parish website. You may find it interesting.

They could use extra help in the warehouse (no heavy lifting required) and in the office for general clerical and computer work. If you have a few hours to spare during the week give Kathleen a call at 267-9006.
